Dota 2 promises to take the unique blend of online RTS and RPG action that has made Dota popular with tens of millions of gamers and expand upon it in every way.
Dota 2 is on its way, and although Valve has been quiet about some of the improvements it is making to the decade-old formula, the developer has already shown us many of the heroes that will make the jump from the Warcraft III mod to the sequel. For new players, one of the biggest obstacles to jumping into Dota 2 will be learning the details of the heroes, so we figured we'd give you a head-start. Here's a brief overview of every hero we know will be in Dota 2. There are still many more to be confirmed.
To give you some sense of what each hero's role will be we've also listed their stats. Strength heroes primarily grow stronger by gaining more health and becoming more difficult to kill, making them strong tanks (heroes adept at soaking up damage) and initiators (heroes capable of starting off a team-fight on the right foot). Each point of Strength increases a hero's health.
Agility heroes are often powerful sustained damage-dealers, because every point of Agility increases their base attack speed. They often make good gankers and ambushers too (characters capable of surprising a hero with high damage and preventing them from escaping).
Intelligence heroes are highly reliant on their skills and spells and tend to deal damage from afar or help the rest of the group with heals or powerful buffs (spells that provide beneficial effects). Each point of Intelligence increases a hero's maximum mana and mana regeneration. (article via IGN)
